Alexis Genereux

Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist

Alexis received her BHKin from UBC Okanagan in 2017 and went on to achieve a MScOT at Dalhousie University in 2019. For the last five years, Alexis has been a practicing Occupational Therapist in the public sector. Alexis’ experience includes working in post-operative Orthopaedics, Plastic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Cardiac Surgery, Oncology, General Medicine, Brain Injury, and Stroke. In all cases, supporting individuals to establish and achieve their functional goals by maximizing their ability to complete activities of daily living by using a broad range of interventions, modalities, adaptive aids, custom splint fabrication and more. In addition, Alexis has an interest in brain injury and post-concussion management. Alexis endeavours to provide evidence-based practice in which her clients’ needs and goals are her top priority.

After accruing 3000 hours of clinical experience focused on upper extremities, Alexis completed the certification requirements of the Hand Therapy Certification Commission. As a Certified Hand Therapist, Alexis provides assessment, treatment, and education for managing acute and chronic upper extremity conditions. Typical treatment plans may include exercise therapy, various soft tissue release modalities, custom splint fabrication and return to work/activity planning.

In her spare time, Alexis enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog, Tilly, friends and family. She enjoys hiking, skiing, biking, rock climbing, camping and training in Olympic Weightlifting.
